The world production of oilseeds amounts to more than 400 million tonnes per year. Over 50 percent derives from soybeans, with cottonseeds and rapeseeds as the following primary resources (source: FAO).
Within recent years there has been a significant demand for oilseeds, not least from the developing countries. At the same time the European Union has experienced that the domestic production of oilseeds has not been sufficient to satisfy demand for both food uses and bio fuel production.
Traditionally oilseeds are exported by the USA, Brazil, and Argentina, accounting for more than two thirds of the global exports. In order to expand the market supplying the increasing number of customers with oilseeds and oils Linas Agro has focused on purchase from the three Baltic states, Russia, Byelorussia, and the Ukraine.
We supply both oil mills, the feedstuff industry and the bio diesel industry with oilseeds and oils from not least linseeds, rapeseeds, and sunflower seeds.
