Ķekava Doktor’s sausage ranked ‘Best New Launch’ in processed meat category in Latvia in 2018
Ķekava Doctor’s sausage(Ķekava Cāļa gaļas Doktora desa), which was launched fall 2018, received the appraisal ‘Best New Launch ‘ in processed meat category in Latvia in 2018 in the poll arranged by Nielsen, the global research company.
AS Putnu Fabrika Kekava (Kekava) is one of the largest poultry meat producers in the Baltics. Kekava has about 50% of the Latvian poultry market. For more than 50 years Ķekava‘s production has been popular on the Latvian family table. Thanks to a number of new products, innovative approaches and diverse flavors, Kekava has also significantly contributed to the development of the whole meat industry in Latvia. Forecasts show that demand for high quality meat is growing both in Latvia and in the world. Kekava is a full-cycle manufacturer, which means the production process is fully monitored at all stages. Every year, the company invests considerable sums in bird welfare and biosecurity.
As an industry leader, Kekava, several years ago, began to reduce the use of antibiotics in poultry farming. By introducing increased welfare, which includes high quality and balanced feed for birds, increased bio-security and strict hygiene procedures, Kekava ensures that birds do not fall ill and do not need to be treated with antibiotics. Currently, 98% of the birds in Kekava poultry farm are raised without usage of antibiotics.
